What is a portfolio?

It is the process of tracking and documenting the knowledge, skills and experience that students gain through their journey of study and practice in college. It serves as a record of what they experience, learn and then apply.

What is expected of our students?

Students are expected to start creating their own portfolio, and this will help them acquire the basic skills required to design and organize a personal and professional development (PPD) pathway, which should include the evidence required to substantiate their perceptions of their personal and professional development.

Furthermore, students will learn about and apply the professional behavior, including confidentiality and probity, expected of medical students and future doctors in accordance with national and international standards of Good Medical Practice guidelines.

Duties of the Committee

  • Regular meeting and coordination with the heads of the various classes to determine the tasks required of students to complete their portfolios according to the personal and professional development path plan for each semester.
  • Explaining and organizing how students access Moodle (the Portfolio website).
  • Clarifying and explaining the tasks required of students (their meaning and purpose) according to the personal and professional development path plan.
  • Follow up and evaluate the requirements for portfolio assignments according to the students’ PPD path plan for each semester.
  • Solving the technical and administrative problems that students face while dealing with Moodle (the Portfolio website).
  • Continuous development of PPD requirements according to national and international standards.
  • Conducting workshops and holding periodic meetings with students of different semesters to hear their experience, suggestions, and problems they faced while implementing the PPD path plan for each semester.
  • Conducting workshops and holding periodic meetings with teachers of different classrooms to periodically clarify the plan for the personal and professional development path for each semester and to hear their opinions, experience, and suggestions regarding what has been implemented in each semester.
