The Road to The End

The first season of the Manchester Premier League’s proceedings went on for nearly two months and half, starting from the
draw ceremony which was held on the 28th of February in Hall 2 on the MMPME floor with the honorable attendance of
Prof Dr Ahmed Negm, in which the teams, their players and logos were determined. Until we reached the league’s kickoff
on the 7th of March 2022, after big deal of preparation and planning to get the first version of the MPL through,
the first fixture was central to all the league as the other fixtures were expected to follow its same system, with three
weekly matches.

The League’s System

The tournament consisted of an individual system, where the players registered individually and then divided into levels
according to several factors, most notably: skill, experience and leadership, then a draw was made to divide them into
6 teams consisting of 8 players of different levels headed by the team leader (he is the most experienced player).
This tournament was distinguished by its unique system of players admission and collateral activities that added another
dimension to sports events in our faculty.

MPL Fantasy Football

One of the most important activities was the Fantasy Football game, which made its players able to form a virtual squad
from the league players for each game week,
a player earns points based on his contributions on field, then those points are added, and players are ranked according
to total points earned each week and collectively in the end to determine the winner of the season. This game made it
possible for MMPME students to interact with the league’s proceedings and matches, attract more
audience to watch matches and give them a close experience to football even if they are not participating.

Media Coverage

The media coverage played a big role in delivering the league’s news, thereby expanding the reach of the MPL to more
and more students through different channels, like pre- and post-match interviews with players, showcase the fixtures’
match times, results, top scorers, and table. With more and more details and gossip about the MPL transfers,
players and whereabouts.

Weekly sports newspaper

The sports newspaper was issued for three trial issues and published on the Sports Committee account on Instagram.
A printed version was distributed to spectators on field during the matches, to involve them in a new way in all events
of the league and to add a new dimension to the media coverage that has always been a reason for delivering the most
important news and events to viewers and followers and enhance communication channels
between athletes and each other.
